Tools and Systems I Use as an Interior Designer for a Seamless Process
Designing beautiful, functional spaces is my passion—but let’s be real, there’s a lot more that goes into interior design than picking paint colors and fabrics. Behind every project is a system of tools that keeps everything running smoothly, from initial consultations to the final reveal.
As an interior designer, I know my clients want a stress-free experience and a home they love, which is why I’ve built a process that’s organized, efficient, and (most importantly) enjoyable. Today, I’m pulling back the curtain and sharing the tools and systems I rely on to bring my clients’ dream spaces to life.
myDoma: The All-in-One Project Hub
One of the most important parts of my process is keeping clients in the loop, and that’s where myDoma comes in. This platform is like the command center for each project. It’s where clients can review design concepts, approve selections, track progress, and even see project timelines—all in one place.
With myDoma, you don’t have to dig through endless emails to find what we discussed. Everything is organized and accessible, so you always know where we’re at in the process.
Milanote: Capturing Inspiration and Ideas
Every great design starts with inspiration, and Milanote is my go-to tool for gathering ideas and building the creative vision for a project. It’s like a digital mood board where I can collect images, sketches, notes, and ideas in one place.
But it’s not just for me—Milanote is also a collaborative space where clients can share their inspiration images with me! Whether it’s a Pinterest board, photos from magazines, or a specific vibe they want to capture, clients can upload their ideas directly to Milanote. This makes it easy to stay on the same page and ensures the final design reflects their style and vision.
SketchUp: Bringing Your Vision to Life
Visualization is everything in interior design, and that’s why I love using SketchUp. This 3D design software lets me create detailed renderings of your space so you can see exactly how it will look before we even begin.
Whether it’s the layout of your furniture, the flow of your kitchen, or how the lighting will work, SketchUp gives us a realistic preview of your design. It helps my clients feel confident in their choices and allows us to make any tweaks before the project is underway.
ClickUp: Staying Organized Behind the Scenes
As much as I love design, managing the logistical side of projects is just as important. ClickUp is my go-to tool for staying on top of all the moving parts. It’s a project management platform that helps me juggle timelines, budgets, vendor orders, and more.
From creating to-do lists to setting deadlines for specific tasks, ClickUp keeps me organized and ensures every detail is accounted for. It also helps me prioritize tasks so I can spend more time focusing on the creative side of the job.
Why These Tools Matter
Together, these tools—myDoma, ClickUp, SketchUp, and Milanote—create a seamless process that benefits both me and my clients. Here’s why they’re a game-changer:
Clear communication: You’ll always know where we are in the process and have access to all the project details.
Confidence in the design: From mood boards to 3D renderings, you’ll see exactly how your space will look before we even start.
Stress-free experience: My systems take the guesswork out of the process, so you can relax and enjoy the journey.
Great design is about more than just the finished product—it’s about the experience. With these tools and systems in place, VM Interiors is able to deliver a process that’s organized, creative, and tailored to your needs.
